For Disney’s 2019 Lion King Remake and Beyonce’s own 2020 Black is King film, WØRKS’ Joe Perez and Jenna Marsh creative directed and concepted the visual direction for the soundtrack album. Simply titled The Gift, the album, dubbed ​‘sonic cinema’ by Beyonce herself, primarily featured musical acts from Africa and served as her love letter to the continent. The art direction itself is a tribal inter­pre­ta­tion of the climactic final battle in Lion King, shaped in a regal raw gold.
